HUNGER

It starts from the womb of mother itself

Hunger is a journey of a man looking for a city, which promises to feed everyone but what he finds and how he finds amidst the desolation and hungriness.

How unsung can the currency of a country get at times when the world is facing an economic turmoil?

How a common man struggles to find work, food and shelter for himself in the busiest lanes of a metro city, which promises work and shelter to everyone?

Director’s Note:

I don’t know what to say, let silence be the language, let the film speak for itself, but all I can say is every day I went to the shoot and every day I watched things shaping up taking a form, I learnt from it, it is an experience of a lifetime, silent films not only taught me how to be patient but also how to express myself without saying a word.

Music Director's Note:

Silent films are a celebration of life, and the music is the language of the art form, so it has been a challenge for me throughout to communicate through sounds which has to be modernistic and esthetical at the same time, thus creating music for Hunger today I feel not only I have surprised but re-invented myself, it has been a fabulous learning experience.

Producer's Note:

Silent films have always excited me since I saw one the very first time, the performance of the actors and the music expressing everything which words cannot, so when asked by Mr.Paraashar, the director of the film, I was pretty excited and had a cold-feet at the same time, that will it be possible to make such a film in modern times and scenario, then we had few sittings on the script and music, we took some auditions with actors where we found the appropriate cast for the film and we decided to roll the reel, and that’s how it began, today I am very confident when I see the film that it suffice to the needs of modern times also keeping all the aesthetics of silent films in mind.

Actor's Note:

This little creative gem fascinated me when director Vipin Paraashar narrated the concept. It was a challenging role because I had no luxury of dialogues to communicate; everything had to be told through expressions, body language, inner rhythm and the visuals. And the most challenge part was the climax of the film where I had to shock everybody through my helpless gesture!
